A Charity Auction held by the Parents Association for a new sports pitch at St Hugh's School, Woodhall Spa raised generous bids under auctioneer Robert Bell's gavel.
The new headmaster, Chris Ward, donated a novel prize - the chance for a pupil to act as headmaster for a day (including having your photograph taken sitting in the headmaster's chair etc.). Robert Bell commented that the day normally starts at 6am and the head was expected to still be there at midnight, so you would get your moneys worth. Bidding started at £200, and there were bids quickly from all parts of the room. In the end both the successful bidder and the under-bidder each bought a day at £2100 - magnificent all round!
The auction was part of a Charity Ball held at the School on Saturday 11th October. The auction alone realised £14,000. The target before starting work is £150,000.
